THANK YOU to all who helped to make Touchdown for the Troops a success! A special Thank You to the American Legion, all of our Honorary Team Captains, our cheer squads for their amazing patriotic performances, and the generosity of the Romeoville and Orland Hills fans for their donations and participation in the 50/50 raffle.
RYFC collected nearly 200 lbs. of care package items for the troops and raised $650.00 for the American Legion's Ray Holloway House!
The Troops are beginning to receive packages from
Operation Support our Troops - America that contain items, cards, and footballs from the Spartans!
Read below to see what the Troops are saying!
" Hi my name is Justin Smith, I'm a specialist in the Army, currently deployed to Afghanistan. My unit recived a care package from you guys with all the footballs in it and I just wanted to tell you that we are very thankful for them. They make it feel a little more at home here. It's a heart warming feeling knowing that there are people, who even though they have no idea who we are, care about us and support us.
Thanks and appreciativeness,
Spc Smith,
Kabul, Afghanistan."
"Hey Dale, My name is Wes Mims.I sent the same email to Don Rickard. I am not 100% sure if you are the person I should contact about the gifts we received or not. I got your email from ryfsspartans.org link. If you know who to pass this thank you along to can you please tell me or maybe forward this email? Thanks so much.
I am in Kabul Afghanistan right now. I leave here very soon. My company received about 15 footballs along with RYFC Tuchdown for Troops Greeting cards. Td4thetroops@ryfcspartans.org and www.ryfcspartans.org are the links on the cards and written on some of the footballs. We cant thank you enough for the support of Romeoville IL! The thought enough for is great but sending us footballs is a sight we normally only would see back home. We come from the south and football is a HUGE part of life for us. So thanks so much for what you have done, are doing, and will one day do and if there is anything we can do for you back home please let us know. God Bless and Be safe. SPC Mims
These are some of the names written on the Footballs, thanks again."

"My name is SFC Heath Harrison and I am a Platoon Sergeant/ Mission Commander with USFOR-A JVB/PSD (United States Forces Afghanistan Joint Visitors Bureau/ Protective Service Detail) and I wanted to take time and thank the Romeoville Spartans for its efforts in supporting the troops. The footballs and hats you sent provided a much needed moral boost for my teams. As a Joint Protective Service Detail, my teams often spend long periods of time on site waiting for our DV to complete their business and the footballs provided an outlet to break the monotony of these long periods. My Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen truly appreciate your support efforts and patriotism. Please accept my
sincerest thanks and appreciation for what you do for us.
I have attached a picture from one of our missions; this is my PSD Team with Secretary of defense Robert Gates. This was his last visit to Afghanistan as the Secretary of Defense. I am situated to the left front of the Secretary next to the Bold Navy MA2.
Sincerely,
Heath Harrison
SFC, 1165th Military Police Company"
